Setting Up a Video Component

This feature allows admins to add and .mp4 video file as a component to a Product,

  1. From the Components tab of the Product, click "Create New Component" and select "Video", give your Video Component a title and description. Keep in mind, the title will be used on the Product page and should be something learners will recognize. For example, you may consider using the title “Presentation” or “Lecture”. The description will also be visible on the Product page. For example, if the title was “Lecture” your description may be “A video presentation by Albert Einstein”.

  2. The recording date defaults to today, but that can be changed. If desired, check the box if you wish to date to appear on the Catalog and Product page
  3. If desired, enter in the duration in minutes for the users to see.
  4. Select Content Type: mp4 video or Warpwire content
  5. As desired, check the boxes for:
    • Optimize Mobile Viewing - causing the video to open in the device's video player. This disables Prevent Fast Forward and Requires a Minium Time options
    • Prevent Fast Forwarding - each time the user returns to the video, they will start at the beginning
    • Requires a minimum amount of time on access - if you want to require a minimum viewing time for the Component. This requires registrants to view the video in the foreground or progress is not correctly tracked. Minimizing the video or covering the video with another tab or window will stop the viewing time from counting. If registrants close the video before the minimal viewing time is reached, they will see a warning box explaining how the minimum viewing time was not reached.
  6. Select Access Options to:
    • Embedded Player only - user must be registered and logged into the Product to view the video
    • Download only -  registrant can download the video file and not have to return to Elevate
    • Both Player and Download

      Embedded Player Only

  7. By default, the size of the player is 800 x 600 pixels.  If you want to adjust the player's size, change the pixels' values.
  8. Drag and drop the file or browse to the file that you want to upload.  All files must be located on the PC or accessible from the PC that is logged into Elevate.
  9. Enable Captions allows admins to upload a vtt or srt close captioning file with the component. So viewers can turn CC on or off. This check box does not create the Closed Captioning for you, just gives you a place to upload the CC file.
  10. Click “Update” to save.
