Setting Up a SCORM Component

*SCORM is an add on module with additional costs. Please contact elevate-support@gocadmium.com  for more info on this feature.

  1. Author your course in a SCORM-compliant authoring tool such a Articulate or Captivate and save the file in a .ZIP format.
  2. Click "Create New Component" and choose “SCORM”.  The system's default title name is “Course”.  You may edit this as needed.  You may also enter an optional descriptive text. Then click "Next Step"

    create new component
  3. Click “Choose File”, locate and select your course .Zip file
  4. You can customize the View Course button and Completion Status areas

    view courses
  5. Click update.  The system will save and upload your .Zip file

    Selecting Update
  6. Once uploaded Admins can select Completion in the drop down from "Use SCORM Completion Requirements Built into SCORM Course" "Select Specific SCORM Activities" or "Mark Component Completed as soon as it has been viewed"

    Replace
  7. Finally, click "Update"

For SCORM files, here is what we recommend:

SCORM Standard: we recommend using the 2004 4th Edition.

Status representation: we recommend setting for passed / incomplete

Success/Completion Criteria: If there are no quizzes we recommend setting for the number of slides. But, for safety, we recommend setting the slide count 5% less than the total slides. So if the slide count is 50, set the slide Pass at 46. This way, if there is a skippable slide it doesn't penalize the user's Pass ability.

To replace an existing SCORM file in an existing SCORM component:

  1. Navigate to the component you wish to update with a new file, then click "replace"

    view courses
  2. Select the criteria which must be met in order to move an existing registration to the new uploaded version of the course. Then upload the new .zip file.

    view courses

In January 2023 The Elevate SCORM module was rewritten with the V2 API available from SCORM Cloud. There are no visible changes or functionality changes. Admins will not need to make any updates to existing SCORM components. Admins will continue to be able to upload SCORM content and set component completion requirements based on the SCORM course. Users will launch the SCORM item from the component. Reports will remain the same.
