Cadmium Identity Transition Plan for Elevate Users

IMPORTANT NOTE

This article is part of a temporary transition plan for accounts during the migration period. The information provided here is intended only for the duration of the transition and does not reflect how accounts will function in Elevate after the transition is complete.

Overview

Cadmium is updating how users log in to Elevate by moving authentication to Cadmium Identity, Cadmium’s identity management system. This update will gradually be released to Elevate accounts starting on April 1st.

Affected accounts will be contacted directly by their account manager on their transition plan.

This article explains:

  • What is changing
  • What users will experience when logging in
  • How administrators and learners can prepare

What Is Changing

As we implement Cadmium Identity into Elevate the following will be changed:

  • Elevate will use this new system for user authentication
  • Users will be redirected to a new login screen when accessing Elevate
  • After logging in, users will be redirected back to the page they originally attempted to access
  • If a users doesn’t already exist in Cadmium Identity, users will have to create an account before logging into Elevate

This change affects authentication only. There are no changes to:

  • Course access
  • Learner progress
  • User roles or permissions
  • Account data

First-Time Login Experience

The first time a user logs in after the update, they will be required to complete a one-time verification and password setup.

Step-by-Step Login Flow

  1. User clicks Log in in Elevate
  2. User is redirected to the new login page
  3. User verifies their account and creates a new password
  4. User is redirected back to Elevate and continues where they left off

Please see the article  Cadmium Identity Management - Log In with an Invitation for more information.

NOTE

This password setup is required only once. All future logins will follow the same redirect flow but will not require additional verification.

Why This Change Is Happening

Moving authentication to Cadmium's identity management system allows Cadmium to:

  • Improve security and credential management
  • Provide a more consistent login experience across Cadmium products
  • Support future enhancements to identity and access management
  • Provide new login features to easily access Cadmium products such as integrating with PassKey

What Administrators Should Do

To ensure a smooth transition, administrators should:

  • Notify learners of the upcoming login change (see below for a suggested communication template)
    • Cadmium Recommends sending this communication out 4 weeks prior to the launch date and a week prior to the launch date
    • Inform learners that they will be required to create a new password on first login after launch
  • Share Cadmium-provided resources with learners in advance

Providing advance notice will help reduce confusion and login-related support requests.
